a collection of losing stories from brandon scott gorrell's short story contest

excerpts from emails between megan boyle and michael inscoe discussing the e-book '$7 stories' in order to better convey the idea 'we are okay with the results of brandon scott gorrell's short story contest':

mb / "i just had the thought that maybe a 'loser compilation' might seem 'in bad taste' or something. i don't know. my reason for liking the idea is that i feel a lot of people will have written things in a style i like reading, and having a compilation of these things would be enjoyable to read. i'm worried that it might seem like we are doing some kind of 'i didn't win so fuck you' thing, which are not my feelings. this should be stated somewhere or something, i think.

i'm still really interested in doing this, if your reasons are the same as mine.

it would be funny to call it 'leftovers,' maybe. no, actually maybe not.'

mi / "yeah, i don't want to be portrayed as bitter or reactionary

maybe our bios could be something like 'michael inscoe runs a blog and wasn't angry about the results of the bsg story contest'

or hopefully something a little more eloquent than that

or yeah, having a paragraph at the front of the page seems like a good idea

i think our reasons are the same. i think we should try to be kind of funny about it, but definitely show that we're not pissed or something

oh, what about $7 stories? i don't know"

mb / "i like your bio idea, haha, i don't think it needs to be more eloquent. maybe. it's funny that way, though.

that and the paragraph/disclaimer would be good, i think.

i like the title '$7 stories.'"
